About
- I'm a songwriter who wants others to record my songs.
- I'm a singer who writes songs. I am looking for musicians/composers/producers to help complete my songs.
I’ve worked for about 15 years as a poet and writer. You can read about my latest poetry collection here: https://blackspringpressgroup.com/products/an-equal-light, which has won praise from Sir Tom Stoppard, Gina Miller, Philip Mould and many others. I’ve also published seven books: biographies on Roger Federer and Theresa May, as well as volumes of verse and a novel. I regularly appear on Sky, BBC, LBC, and Bloomberg discussing politics and literature.
I’m also a widely commissioned artist, who exhibits internationally: https://[removed]/christopher-a-jackson/.
I began working as a musician in my teens, playing weddings and so forth. I play piano and guitar. I returned to songwriting after a successful career as a writer. I wrote around 50 songs last year and I'm looking for someone to interpret my songs, who has time to gig and build a following. I'm also looking for producers for a solo album.

The Trees are Bare

The Trees are Bare
Verse 1
The trees are bare, half-broken by the winter
And I see them there, dreaming about the summer
And the squirrel’s fur is raised in little quivers
And the ravens croak as if they’re got the shivers
Verse 2
The trees were fair that time we were together
And we thought we’d walk, we’d walk their way forever
Under their leaves, but now the greys just gather
And the birds in their nests, feather warming feather
Chorus
But the sun was here yesteryear
And it put a flame in our day
And that’s feeling won’t go away
So happy new year to all ye frightened and fiery men and women
Happy new year to all ye waiting for a sign, a signal and a cause
Or just a pause from the race
Happy new year to all of us – no one here escapes the mandate and the claim of the numinous in this improbable place
Verse 3
The trees are bare, I see it everywhere I go
And the snow it rushes across our hair
I see it clear now, what it means to be fear
When the strategies which used to work suddenly disappear
Verse 4
The riverbed that is almost frozen
And the smoke adorns the breath of the horses and the oxen
And the final stretch of this year is almost ended
And I drink to you, you were the one that I depended on
But the sun was here yesteryear
And it put a flame in our day
And that’s feeling won’t go away
So happy new year to all ye frightened and fiery men and women
Happy new year to all those waiting for a sign, and a signal and a cause
Or a pause from the race
Happy new year to all of us – no one here escapes the mandate and the claim of the numinous in this strange, created place
