Lyrics by Eugene Nalence
The Pilgrim
Chorus
I’m a weary pilgrim getting through the day
Just a weary pilgrim trying to find my way
The road has been rough and very long
Keep wondering if maybe I went wrong
Verse 1
I keep thinking that the end must be near
What was I to do with my time here?
When the road had choices for me to make
Did I chose right or make a mistake?
Repeat Chorus
Verse 2
I tried to find directions along the way
Something to tell me what to do or say
But I never understood all I ever found
All just words that went round and round
Maybe it’s my fault but what I always found was true
Paul Simon said more to me than St. Paul could ever do.
Repeat Chorus
Verse 3
I think of all I met along the way
Especially the ones who aren’t here today
I remember them all – each and every one
Why am I still here and they’re all gone?
Are there things that I’m supposed to do
Because I have these extra days to use
Repeat Chorus
Verse 4
Is there a Heaven – is there a Hell?
I’m not sure – can’t really tell
I know evil is real – see it every day
So there must be good to hold it at bay
I hope I’ve been on the side of what’s right
As good battles evil with all its might
Repeat Chorus
Verse 5
I keep wondering what the end of the road brings
Is the road all there is or are there other things
Here’s what I learned on the way about how to live
It doesn’t matter what you get – you really need to give
The other thing I learned on the way
Watch what people do – not what they say
Maybe that’s why I had to write this song
Maybe it was what I was here for all along
Repeat Chorus
Closing

Wisdom
WISDOM
Chorus
They say that wisdom comes with age
And I should be a wise old sage
But here’s what I find is true
I don’t know any more than you
Verse 1
They say that age should make us wise
I think that’s just another lie
I find that as life rolls along
I’m not sure what’s right or wrong
When I wonder about what’s best to do
Often I don’t have a clue
By now I should have it all figured out
But I’m still filled with doubts
Repeat Chorus
Verse 2
Often have no idea which way to go
Thought by now I’d surely know
I was more certain when I was young
Climbing life’s ladder – rung by rung
Then I thought I knew what was true
Now I find I’m never really sure
Wonder if I missed something along the way
That would make me more certain about today
Repeat Chorus
Verse 3
Did I miss a chance to learn
How to decide the way to turn
Life is so full of choices to make
Seems easy to make a mistake
So, then, what can I tell you
About what you should do
There’s no such thing as a perfect plan
All we can do is the best we can
Repeat Chorus
I really don’t know any more than you

Castles in the Sand
Castles in the Sand
Verse 1
We all make castles in the sand
Castles in the sand – made with detailed plans
We build them like they will always stay
Never worried that waves will wash them away
Chorus
So much of what we dream and do
Can be like castles in the sand
So much of what we wish was true
Gets washed away – like castles in the sand
Castles in the sand – never meant to stay
Castles in the sand – always washed away
Verse 2
You can wish they stay forever more
But castles in the sand cannot endure
No matter how carefully they’re planned
They never ever stay
No matter how wonderful they seem to be
They always wash away
Repeat Chorus
Verse 3
We build them anyway
Knowing they will go away
We make them over again
Even though they come to an end
Maybe building our castles over again
Is all that really matters in the end
Repeat Chorus

Movin' On
Movin’ On
CHORUS
I’m movin’ on – can’t get through
The thick walls all around you
You’ll always be in my heart
But we’ll always be apart
VERSE 1
Like you said – it’s not about me
You don’t need anyone – now I see
Really it’s all about you
Nothin’ more I can do
I tried to tell you how much I care
But I know you’ll never want me there
REPEAT CHORUS
VERSE 2
I was a fool to think you’d see
There was anything you needed from me
You told me you were threatened by me
‘cause I wanted too much – now I see
I have a lot to share
With someone who wants me there
I thought that just might be you
Now I know that can’t be true
REPEAT CHORUS
VERSE 3
I should have known all along
When you never listened to my songs
I made music you never heard
You didn’t listen to a single word
REPEAT CHORUS
VERSE 4
I’m movin’ on – nothin’ else to do
I know I won’t ever be with you
If you miss me after I’m gone
It don’t matter ‘cause I’ve moved on
CHORUS
I’m movin’ on – can’t get through
The thick walls all around you
You’ll always be in my heart
But we’ll always be apart

Letting Go Again
Letting Go Again
I let you get away long ago
Afraid to let you know
How much I cared for you
Telling you was more than I could do
So we went our separate ways
Lives lived through the passing days
Finding others to share our lives
Passing through good and bad times
Then we both ended up alone
Trying to find the way on our own
Something made me search for you
Something I needed to do
So much time had gone by
But I still had to try.
Then I found you and it made me feel
Like a new connection might be real.
We sent texts sharing out pasts
Made me think this could last
I wanted to come and visit you
To see if there was more we could do
But things done to you before
Made you not trust any more.
You said I scared you
Something I’d never do
So now I know we’ll never touch
Something I wanted oh so much
So I will let you go again
Letting this come to an end.
I’ll prove how much I care
By just not being there.
I let you get away long ago
Afraid to let you know
How much I cared for you
Telling you was more than I could do
So we went our separate ways
Lives lived through the passing days

I Didn't Know
I Didn’t Know
CHORUS
I didn’t know we were done
I thought you could be the one
It was the last kiss for me
The last one there would ever be
I thought I’d see you again
I didn’t know it was the end.
VERSE 1
I didn’t know I’d never see you again
Never another where or when
I thought there was something there
I thought you really cared
I thought we were growing together
A connection that might be forever
But now you don’t want to see me
I don’t know why that came to be
CHORUS
VERSE 2
I don’t know why you keep away
I thought there was something that would stay
I don’t know why you want to stay apart
I thought I was sharing my heart
I didn’t know that was the last kiss there would be
I thought you really cared about me
That last kiss good bye
I’ll always wonder why.
CHORUS

REVELATION
Verse 1
So I’m wonderin’ what they’re gonna do
When the plans they’ve made just fall through.
Looks like the whole house of cards is goin’ down
Gonna turn their whole world upside down.
They’ve been goin’ for years and years
Preying on everyone’s doubts and fears
Tellin’ lies pretending they were true
Thought they always knew better than me and you.
Chorus
Watch how they all twist and squirm
With each new truth that we learn.
Truth is a rolling tide
Pushing all the lies aside.
Verse 2
They thought they knew what was best for us
Real free speech they could never trust
They took over more and more news
Only telling their own views.
But they took it just too far
So everyone sees what they are.
They supported leaders so full of greed
Who took too much so everyone could see
Chorus
Verse 3
They try their best to hide it all
Blaming others trying to make them fall
They pretend nothing at all was wrong
Hoping all of us will just go along.
They keep hoping we all don’t see
What they’ve done to you and me
Will they ever admit they were wrong
And were lying to us all along.
So it looks like the end is near
Whole truth is what they fear
How will they act and what will they do?
Will they ever admit what was really true?
Chorus

Speeding Through Texas
Speeding Through Texas
SPEEDING THROUGH TEXAS
I’m speeding through Texas fast as I can drive
Getting far away – hoping to survive
I thought I had love that would forever be
But then one day he said he was leaving me
I’m leaving all I knew back in SoCal
Getting away as fast as I can to a new local
I’m running from SoCal with a broken heart
Running from a life that just got torn apart
Going as far away as I can get
Got a new job in Connecticut
I’m speeding through Texas – the sky is turning green
The radio is telling me tornadoes have been seen
Tornadoes don’t scare me ‘cause of what I been through
After years together he told me I’m leaving you
My world already got picked up and blown away
What more could a tornado do to me today?
On I-20 fast as I can go
Headin’ for a future I don’t even know
I see in my mirror a big dark funnel cloud
The wind is roaring, really getting loud
It’s gaining on me, comin’ on real fast
Lookin’ for a place to wait for it to pass
I see a bridge and stop under it to see
What comes next – what happens to me?
The wind gets stronger bouncing the car around
I hold on, close my eyes, surrounded by the sound
Soon it was gone leaving me – I was OK
A broken heart and tornado couldn’t stop me today
I’m speeding through Texas fast as I can drive
Now I know for sure I will survive
Now I know for sure I will survive
SPEEDING THROUGH TEXAS
I’m speeding through Texas fast as I can drive
Getting far away – hoping to survive
I thought I had love that would forever be
But then one day he said he was leaving me

Memory Care
Memory Care
CHORUS
You’re in a place called Memory Care
But when I visit, you’re really not there
What I go see is just a shell
Welcome to my very own hell
VERSE 1
It’s my memories they’re caring for
‘Cause you don’t have yours any more
I come to see what used to be
Because now You don’t even know me
I go to see you every day
Don’t know any other way
I’m lost in this purgatory
That’s my tragic story
CHORUS
VERSE 2
Don’t know what else to do
When I know you’re not you
Do you know that I care
When you’re really not there
Maybe my visits are just for me
To be reminded of what used to be
To think of all that went before
All the things not there any more
CHORUS
VERSE 3
So here’s another day that I share
With someone who isn’t even aware
That I’m really right there
In a place called Memory Care.
