Lyrics by Jared Ellenthal

I ain't J cole but they sayin' who date
I aint Nick Cannon but I am all that
I'm no Eminem but really who is?
Just tryna make some buz in the music bizz
Starting from the bottom imma get to the top
Then maybe one day I'll be the ones others name drop
unfinished verse

Second verse:
Comin' straight at ya like a runaway train
My rhymes are like a fire that you can't contain
Bar for bar I kill it everytime
Each word like a dart headed for the bullseye
It's the message that counts not the beat or the hook
but good lyrics these days tend to be overlooked
I give you everything no questions asked
If my music was a stock I'd jump on it fast

They never said life would be easy
Never said it’s always fun
You gotta take it day by day
Gotta walk before you run
But a lotta time theres’ shit that’s holdin me down
Pulling on my leg tryna turn me around
Im not running from my problems just chasing after my goals
But I keep on getting stopped by shit I can’t control
Everything came crashing down on me so fast
And the sky’s still falling just check the forecast
The worst part is when I think my day’s come
Something goes wrong and I’m back to square one
So god give me a sign that things are gonna change
If I can’t press rewind, make me wanna press play
It’s like I’m going to war but I know I can’t die
When all I’m fighting for is some peace of mind

Chorus:
God let it shine on me
The light comin through
I’ve waited long enough
And am way overdue
When it rains, it always seems to poor
Once the water drains, I’ll be stronger than before

Despite jumping all these hurdles they just keep coming back
Feels like in running in circles stuck on the same track
We all got our issues there’s not doubt about that
But take one walk if my shoes I bet you’ll bring’em right back
Maybe I’m wrong and you would wana switch
But if you had the choice, I wouldn’t be your first pick
Inside I could be hurtin and you wouldn’t even know
My mind’s behind the curtain you’re just seeing the show
(Repeat Chorus)

These lyrics wouldn’t come without any real pain
But I rather it be gone and stare at a blank page
I got scars on by back from the hell I’ve been through
Don’t need to see that to know I’m speaking the truth
I could see the light, at least it’s coming through a bit
I’m getting to the point where I don’t even have to squint
