Lyrics by patrick bourke

War Gods

We faced them squarely as we entered on the field
None of us would turn our backs and none of us would yield
With our pride and our honour and our orders from above
We kill in the name of hate or in the name of love
We took our banners and we proudly waved them high
We don?t need a reason and we don?t care if we die
You choose up the weapons and we?ll choose up the sides.
We will gladly pay the coin but you must pay the lives.

Chorus

So hear the ancient call to avenge a brothers death
Stand until they fall we must put them all to rest

We started out with sticks and stones and then we made some spears
Pushed back the edge of night to alleviate our fear
Fighting one another with the arrow and the sword
And death was the final prize we claim as our reward
It never ever took too much for us to start a war
An imaginary slight just to even up the score
And all those opposed to us would pay the price in blood
As we trampled over their cities and destroyed the name of love.

The sixties were so hard on us when they finally saw our face
Through ignorance and time well the memories were erased
The slain and the wounded slowly slipped from public view
And opened up the eighties well we started all anew.
Now we can kill more with just a single blow
A sacrifice to the gods above or to the one below
The horsemen of the apocalypse are riding through the sky
And the last thing that?s left now is to see the missiles fly.

So hear the ancient call

The Field Behind The House

I kissed her on the commons in the field behind the house
Hoping that she would teach me what love was all about
I was young and kind of clumsy, I was shaking with delight
My hands and eyes were roaming for the best part of the night
She held out just one finger and she gently touched my lips
And her eyes were wild and hungry as she pulled me by the hips

Chorus

I want you to remember where the sun is in the sky
I want you to remember the birds are flying by
I want you to remember how the dew lays on the grass
And I want you to remember our future and our past
I want to be remembered as you tumble through the years
I want to be a part of you as you call upon your tears
And if this night should pass away and sleep deep in your mind
I want you to be tender and I want you to be kind

We were going to Vancouver, we were riding on our thumb
We knew where we were heading we knew where we were from
We slept outside of Jasper underneath the railway bridge
We felt the evening hunger and the mist rise off the ridge
And just beside the coastline where the totems held the sea
I gave myself to her and she gave herself to me

Chorus

It's been some time since I've seen her I can't remember when
I held her close beside me like I did a way back then
I can still smell her hair see the glory in her eyes
And wonder why I let her go and then I realize
I have never ever let her go she lingers in my head
And she will always haunt me till the day that I am dead
And I can hear the robins singing on an April morning fair
And everytime the dew falls I know that she'll be there
