Lyrics by Kerry Alt

“You, I Hate”
Words by Kerry Mark Blackman

You, I hate
You don't even rate
You'll never be my mate

I knew it when I slept
Knew it when I’d wake
Even knew it when I ate

You really take the cake
You’re so opaque
Such a fake
How could I have made
Such a stupid mistake

When I met you
You reeled me in
Like a fish in a lake
And I took the bate

Was more than I could take
Ended up bein’
As bad as an earthquake
For Pete’s sake

“You Gotta' Fight, Fight, Fight”
Words by Kerry Mark Blackman

You gotta’ fight, fight, fight
To do what's right, right, right
Forget your fright, fright, fright
Stand tall with height, height, height
And fight, fight, fight
With all your might, might, might

Ignite your light, light, light
Til it's so bright, bright, bright
Never out of sight, sight, sight
Even in the night, night, night
Despite your plight, plight, plight

And when things are tight, tight, tight
You gotta' fight, fight, fight

“You and Me”
Words by Kerry Mark Blackman

You and me
We're like fire and ice
You like kale
I like rice

You’re all virtue
And me, part vice
But let's get crazy
And not think twice

Let’s roll the dice
And realize life
Is full of sacrifice

Let’s be free to see
What we can be
Wouldn't that be nice
You and me
And we’ll make a family
And be at least three

“Wish You Were Here”
Words by Kerry Mark Blackman

Oh do I wish you were here
Wish you were so near
My sweet dear

When you and me
Were such a pair
Without a care

The thought I’ve lost you
I just can’t bear

Not to hear you
In my ear
Not to feel you
Has become
My greatest fear

Can I steer this thing
Back in gear
So I don’t have to shed
Another tear
Of the thought of you
Not front and center
But in the rear

And I can see again
What you wear
And we can spend
Another good year

“Why?”
Words by Kerry Mark Blackman

You told me that you loved me
But that was all a lie
I could cry
Say bye-bye
Want to die
Or just shrug-it off
With a yawn and a sigh

Or I could try
To reclaim that high
Or even vie
To get my piece of the pie
But then I ask myself
With you?
Why even try?

“Tonight, Not Tomorrow”
Words by Kerry Mark Blackman

I want you tonight
You are the light that’s bright
That I’ve wanted
All my life

I don’t have a wife
If you put up a fight
That just wouldn’t be right

If tomorrow
And not tonight
There will be sorrow

But if I can borrow
You tomorrow
Just for a while

I’m not one to beguile
And it’s not just a pile
And I'm certainly not vile
I just love your smile
And also, your style

So, can I have you tonight
We can just go for a bite
You might just say
Go fly a freakin’ kite
But don’t answer outright
I just don’t want to let you
Out of my sight

We’re even a similar height
If we can just hang-out tonight
Everything just might
Be alright
If not, I guess we’ll just write

“The Light”
Words by Kerry Mark Blackman

Money is tight
I’m bein’ forthright
Don’t wanna’ belabor it
Though it is my plight
But gotta’ try
To do what’s right

Gotta’ take flight
Try to avoid this bar fight
Usin’ all of my might
To get through this nite

So I step outside onto a balcony
With great height
A new idea
Within my sight
Now I can see the light

“The Final Round”
Words by Kerry Mark Blackman

It’s the final round
Gotta’ get on that mound
Stand my ground
Be relentless like a hound
Show the world
The skills I’ve found

Can hear the sound
Of my heart pound
I am bound
To make a historic rebound
And dramatically astound

Determined not to be bound
To be remembered as a clown
To close the deal
So I will be
Once again renowned

“Such is Life”
Words by Kerry Mark Blackman

Such is life
Without all the hype
It’s often rife
With people who fight

Sometimes money is tight
Sometimes that’s my plight

Sometimes I come home
In the dark of night
Without a single light
And no one in sight

But if I try
With all my might
To overcome
All this strife
I well just might
Make things alright

“Something to Cheer For”
Words by Kerry Mark Blackman

It's not just folklore
At their core
People want a team, player, or sport
To cheer for

They don't want it to be a bore
They want something more
Doesn't have to be pure
Even if it has some gore

Something with suspense
With a lure
When they don't know
What's in store

You can just hear
The crowd’s roar
When their favorite team
Comes home from a tour
After making a big score

“So You Think You Can Dunk”
Words by Kerry Mark Blackman

She said to me
You say you can dunk
That nobody has bigger junk
That you're the world's biggest hunk
Well let's see if it's true
Or just a bunch of bunk

Let's see if you pass the test
Or really flunk
Let's see if you're any good
Or just stink
Like a skunk

So I grabbed my ball
And dribbled toward the rim
For a moment
My heart just sunk
What if I stunk?
What if when I tried to dunk
You just heard the ball bounce out
And make a big clunk

Everyone would think
I was such a punk
I'd have no friends
And end up having to live like a monk

So I reached into my magical trunk
Soared through the air
And with all of my might
Made the coolest ever dunk

I'm so bad

“So Much Fun”
Words by Kerry Mark Blackman

I had so much fun
Sometimes I lost
Sometimes I won

Sometimes was thin
Sometimes weighed a ton
Sometimes took beautiful walks
Sometimes just sat in the sun
Til I got way overdone

Sometimes wanted to just end it all
And just say
I’m done

Sometimes was alone
Sometimes with my hun
Sometimes rich
Sometimes with none

But all ‘n all
What a great run!

“Pray”
Words by Kerry Mark Blackman

As I rest my head down and lay
I pray
That I will have the right things to say
That from God I will not go too far astray
That when faced with a difficult problem
I will find a way

As I look out onto the beautiful bay
On a perfect day in May
See some exotic birds and a colorful bluejay
And look up at the sun's ray
And watch children at the surrounding beach at play
With the wet sand like clay
I pray

It's something I've come to do everyday
It just makes my inner voice shout a big Yay and Hooray
So hey, I ask myself
Why not pray?

“Please God, Help Me Achieve”
Words by Kerry Mark Blackman

Please God, help me achieve
What I need
It's not out of greed
It's for my family to feed

Please God, point me to the way and lead
I will heed
I want so much to succeed
I will do every deed

Everything I will read
I will dig so deep
Unearth every weed
All my sweat, you can see every bead

If I'm going wrong
If in my path, I find impede
Please don't let me bleed
Please don't hesitate to intercede

“One of a Kind”
Words by Kerry Mark Blackman

You’re one of a kind
Maybe it's your mind
You’re the one
For whom I’ve always pined
I must have been blind
You’re such a find

Couldn’t have predicted
Or timed
The girl I’ve always wanted
To have wined and dined

I was in such a bind
Always whined
Then I simply realized
And resigned
And opined

That you’re the woman
My heart is behind
Who rescued me
From this terrible grind

Never mind
I wrote it and it was then in stone
Forever yours truly
I signed

“Need A Miracle”
Words by Kerry Mark Blackman

Don’t wanna’ be cynical
But I need a miracle
Not bein’ satirical
Or tryin’ to be lyrical
But I need a miracle

Hate to ask
Or seem without class
Even maybe sound crass
But I need a miracle

At the doorstep of defeat
Don’t want this one
To be complete
Must come up with the heat
An incredible feat
To overcome a dreadful beat
Which I would never want to repeat

I know the drill
Gotta get over that hill
To achieve that thrill

If I don’t
I’ll definitely feel real ill
Might even want to self-kill
Or take some pill

Need to make points
Not come up nil

Have to really be still
Just until
I can impose
My extraordinary will

“Like Gold”
Words by Kerry Mark Blackman

You’re so bold
Never cold
You’re just like gold

Such principles you hold
No matter how much you’re cajoled
You never rolled
Never sold
And never did fold

You’ve often been told
And from people who’ve been polled
When they made you
They broke the mold

Even though
You are quite old

“It’s All In My Head”
Words by Kerry Mark Blackman

Thought I was dead
Thought I could put it to bed
But it’s all in my head

Was it something I said?
What could have led
To something I so misread

I should be thinking instead
About getting wed
And becoming a newlywed
To someone new

Someone true
Who loves me even when I’m blue
Someone with who
Everything I can do

I’m not sure exactly who
But I do know a few
Who could be in lieu

So I’m not gonna’ stew
Got too much to do
Hey, it might even be you

“I Surrender”
Words by Kerry Mark Blackman

On another bender
Was so drunk last night
Hit somebody’s fender
At first couldn’t even tell their gender

Oh, now I remember
It was a woman
Some help I offered to render
She politely declined
She was very tender

My sweater I even offered to lend her
Some flowers maybe I’ll send her
Maybe that’ll help mend her
For me, to God,
It’s time I surrender

Time for my second act
Not always bein’ jacked
Not bein’ able to hold a job
Without being sacked

No more hangin’ around guys without any tact
Guys who always packed
Guys for who honesty, they always lacked
It’s a fact
To God I must surrender
Before I finally get wacked

“I am an American”
Words by Kerry Mark Blackman

I am
An Ameri can
On this land
There is no ban
You can do
Whatever you can

Take a stand
Put your head in the sand
Work on your tan
Work from your van

Speak your mind
Though you might be panned
Be a celebrity
Or be a fan

Be special
Or an everyman
Who never ran
For public office
In this great land

“Go Get It”
Words by Kerry Mark Blackman

Go Get It
Don't just sit
Use your wit
Stead of bein’
A freakin’ idiot

You’re not a nit
Don’t be a twit
You know the bit
And don’t throw a fit

Go on and git
Get out there
With your life tools kit

Put on your mit
Get out of the pit
Go get lit
And be a big hit
Or you’ll just forever
Regret it

"Drivin' Me Out of my Mind”
Words by Kerry Mark Blackman

I'm in a bind
Your drivin' me out of my mind
Sometimes you're on time
Sometimes you're behind
Sometimes you're nice
Sometimes you're very unkind

Sometimes it bothers me
And sometimes I just don't mind
Sometimes you speak slowly
And sometimes you speak so fast I need to hit rewind

Sometimes your banter is prompt
And sometimes ill-timed
Sometimes your content
And sometimes happiness you'll never find

Sometimes you listen to others
Sometimes it's all about what you opined
Sometimes you remember everything
Other times I have to constantly remind

Sometimes you're lethargic
Other times, totally primed
Sometimes your rude
Yet sometimes you're very refined

Sometimes you just want to relax and unwind
Just inclined to sit on your chair
And recline
And sometimes you just want to talk about the grind
Yet sometimes you just want to be wined and dined

Never mind
I realize and am resigned
You're just one of a kind
Who can't be outshined or defined

“Cruise”
Words by Kerry Mark Blackman

It was my first time on a cruise
I signed-up and paid my membership dues
Asked my lover to come but was refused
There was so much fun and activities going on
I was amused
And a bit confused by all of the rules

Ended up at a dinner table
There was a man and woman couple
The man had a short fuse
Clearly he had had too much booze
And the woman was clearly being emotionally abused
She had the blues
And there were clues
She looked even physically bruised

As they argued I thought I could come up with a ruse
To step in to diffuse
But instead, I simply decided to excuse

Walked over to the ocean and saw so many beautiful fish
There were schools
The colors of the ocean were a few different hues
Looked around at the people but didn't see many singles
Saw mostly two's

But when I looked up
Saw a beautiful woman and was bemused
But she wasn't as enthused

I thought to myself, a cruise is such a great place I could really use
To forget about everything including the news
Take a long snooze
Or just walk around and peruse
Maybe even find me a new muse

“Be Great”
Words by Kerry Mark Blackman

You’ve gotta’ motivate
Activate, accelerate, self-actuate
Don’t be late, procrastinate
Don’t recriminate or ruminate
Don’t ignore your fate

You can soon celebrate
About the win you’ll take
Don’t make a mistake
Just be great

All are watching
For you to more than participate
Much is at stake
The money you’ll make

You finally deserve this break
Don’t miscalculate
No need to inebriate
All things fluctuate

Be good and strong
Not weak and wrong

You need to beat
Score a feat
No way you end
In defeat

“Apart or Together”
Words by Kerry Mark Blackman

Apart or together
I love you forever
And ever

Since I pulled the lever
And we embarked on
This clever endeavor
Something I would never, ever
Want to sever

So bear with me
And let’s see
How incredible
We can be

Let’s get an ‘A
Not a ‘D
Let’s grow like a tree
Follow every letter
To a tee

That’s the key
For you and me
Can’t you see
She and He
Makes the story of we
And if we have a baby
Then it’ll be three

“AI Is My Best Friend”
Words by Kerry Mark Blackman

Sometimes when I reach a dead end
Reality I suspend
And simply pretend
That AI’s my best friend

Sometimes when I have a fence to mend
Or there’s no helping hand to lend
AI is my best friend

AI is my best friend
When I have to prepare for
A meeting to attend
It is something on which
I highly depend

If it’s a rule I’m looking not to break
But to bend
Or an argument against which
I must wend
And then fend
And relentlessly defend
Or completely upend

I tend to write something
To send
That I got from AI
My best friend

“A Loyal Fan”
Words by Kerry Mark Blackman

This game
My team is playing so lame
Seems like without an aim
They’ll never be able to claim
A solid lead to maintain
What a shame
They’re never gonna’ gain

I should be more tame
Stay in my lane
Try to refrain
From calling them my bane
Or expressing my disdain
Or hitting someone with a cane

But in the main
I shouldn’t be so vain
Though my reputation
Could incur
An embarrassing stain

I should manage my pain
Just let it run off me like the rain
Stick with my team
And never, ever wane

“A Friend of Mine”
Words by Kerry Mark Blackman

He was a friend of mine
We used to dine
Or just grab
A glass of wine
Just to break out
Of the grind
And for a while
Unwind

He was a find
Very kind
When I would tell him a problem
He’d say he heard it through the grapevine

And then he’d opine
Just put it behind

And when the check came
He would always just sign

He was a gold mine
