Lyrics by Rynlee Lindsay

i don't know how to be someone worth waiting for,
i don't wanna be the dead weight,
I'm trying I'm trying I'm trying,
to get myself out of this goddamn door.

i don't wanna drag you down....
i don't wanna see your disappointment...
I keep my eyes on the ground...
'cause if I look up I'll break.

... I don't want to break

I don't wanna be the fuckin' dead weight,
dragging you around,
pulling you down,
tied to your ankles, but you're trying to swim

don't save me,
I know you're trying,

I'm trying, too

I'm trying I'm trying I'm trying
I'm trying I'm trying I'm trying

I'm trying

just leave me behind,
let me slip beneath the waves,
just let me go, swim away,
i don't wanna be dead weight.

Maybe in another life
i can swim, too
someone you don't have to carry,
someone who can stay and not just....
fade.

God, I wish I could be her,
i wish I knew how to be her,
i swear I'm reaching, I
i swear I'm trying, I
I feel I might be dying, I
I swear I'm still trying

but I don't know how to be someone worth waiting for,
i don't wanna be dead weight,
I'm trying I'm trying I'm trying,
and I'll keep trying, still

even if it hurts,
even if I'm sinking,
even through borrowed breath,
even if it hurts...

(tick tick tick)

(tick tick tick)

It's hypnotic,
like a Metronome.
keeps my thoughts in time,
so my mind don't slow.

breaths between the measures,
pretend I'm in control.

But I'm not in control,
(not in control),

(tick tick tick)

(tick tick tick)

It's hypnotic,
I'm losing all control,
hands start to tremble,
the rhythm takes its toll.

each cycle louder,
drowning out my mind,
pushing aside the thoughts,
that dwell inside.

(tick tick tick)

(tick tick tick)

It's a pattern that doesn't change,
it never misses time.
it's so predictable, but
it's always been mine.

it's hypnotic,
like a Metronome,
a sound I can't define,
it's hypnotic,
Metronome,
it keeps my thoughts in time.

(tick tick tick)

breaths between the measures,
pretend I'm in control,
fighting through the tremors,
just to pretend I'm whole.

(tick tick tick)

(tick tick tick)

Maybe I could stop it,
miss just one beat.
but if I do,
the world might shatter,
right underneath my feet.

I can't bear the silence,
no,
i can't bear the still,
so the tempo climbs up higher,
and I climb with it still,

caught between the rhythm,
and the silence that it kills.

(tick tick tick)

(tick tick.... tick)

(tick.)
