I Still Love Her
rough demo; me on rhythm guitar and singing. An example of my songwriting and lyric writing.
I Love You Everywhere
I’m a member of the local songwriters association and we had a prompt of “Open Door”. I combined that with a phrase on my “Happy Shenanigans” list of possible song phrases (I find I love you everywhere) and these lyrics are what popped out of my head. I’m embarrassed to say how much I love the chorus of this song. I’d still like to make some edits to the verses, though - maybe not have two locations that are in space. These are 100% my original lyrics, but I used that damn Suno for the rest.
The Trouble
I write all of my lyrics, I don’t use any sort of AI for that at all. I’m very strict about that. But because I can’t sing or play an instrument very well, I do use Suno to make sure my lyrics work re: structure and timing. I would like to collaborate with a singer/musician who can create original melodies and production for these songs, for demos, publishing, etc.
Short on Lies
This song reflects my value of a lasting love relationship instead of passing flings. Written over forty years ago when my voice still sounded pretty good, the value must have worked: I've been married for 52 years and counting! I really have been "long on love!"
The Road That Knew my Name
Closer than Before
Stay a title longer
This song was intended to be the B-side of a record I produced and recorded for Safari Records in 1979. The BBC, however, thought the A-side of the song too raunchy for its listeners (it was written, at Safari's owners request, after the style of the Rocky Horror Show, which I had starred in a few months before), and it was refused air-play. So, it never charted. Tomcat was recorded in a 24-track studio in Tooting and some great musicians, (Nick Straker band) and an equally great engineer, helped me produce Tomcat, and the A-side, 'Hey You'.
Be the first to comment →Though the song has been put through SUNO's A.I. machine to raise it from its original state (recorded quickly in an 8-track studio in the 1970s) to a professional standard, the vocal melody and chord structure are precisely the same as they were when I first wrote the song.
Be the first to comment →Wrote this song in 1990 and recorded it on a 4-track recorder and using a cheap sequencer, in my attic room in West Hampstead, a year later. The quality has faded somewhat. Apologies for this.
